Warning: WhatsApp messages misusing the name of Maryam Bassily and documents misusing the name Malik Saeed

WhatsApp messages have been sent misusing the names of Maryam Bassily and Malik Saeed.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been notified that WhatsApp messages have been sent purporting to be from 'Trust Law Company Ltd' and 'Maryam Bassily' from the telephone number '+44 7514 141985'. The SRA understands that falsified documents were also sent from this telephone number to the recipient that have been signed by 'Malik Saeed' and stamped for 'Trust Law Company Ltd'. The WhatsApp messages misuse the name of a genuine solicitor (see genuine details below).
The WhatsApp messages request the recipient to deposit money into a bank account in order to release investment funds.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Trust Law Company Ltd'.
Any business or transaction through the telephone number '+44 7514 141985' from 'Maryam Bassily' or documents signed by Malik Saeed' and stamped for 'Trust Law Company Ltd' is not undertaken by a firm or solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA does authorise and regulate a solicitor called Maryam Bassily (SRA number 394394).
The SRA also authorises and regulates a solicitor called Malik Asim Saeed (SRA number 230056).
The genuine solicitors Maryam Bassily and Malik Asim Saeed have confirmed that they have no connection to the above matter.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
