Warning: Correspondence misusing the name and details of Linklaters LLP and a registered foreign lawyer and partner from Linklaters LLP
27 February 2026
Correspondence has been sent misusing the name and details of Linklaters LLP and a genuine Registered Foreign Lawyer (RFL) and partner from Linklaters LLP.
What is the scam?
The SRA has been informed that a member of the public has received WhatsApp messages and a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) purporting to be from a genuine law firm (see details below) in relation to an alleged acquisition of another organisation.
The WhatsApp messages seen by the SRA were sent by 'Liam Healy' from the telephone number +44 7387 456323' purporting to be from the genuine law firm (see details below). The messages invite the recipient to sign an NDA and to email their 'lawyer' on the email domain '@linklaters.international' purporting to be of the genuine law firm (see details below). The NDA misuses the logo and head office address of the genuine law firm (see details below).
The SRA has also seen an email using the domain '@linklaters.international' providing a link 'https://login.mailbox.org/en' to access a 'secure server'. The bogus email signature purports that the individual holds the position of 'Partner' at the genuine law firm (see details below) and also includes the telephone number of '+44 20 8040 4536'.
A further WhatsApp message purporting to be a 'lawyer' of the genuine law firm (see details below) was sent from '+44 7435 909656' with a bogus profile picture asking the recipient to email using the domain '@linklaters.financial'.
Another WhatsApp message was also sent from +447351222700 with a bogus profile picture and bogus name and surname as captions.
A separate email was also sent from the bogus domain '@linklaters.partners'.
Any business or transaction through the above correspondence, domains, telephone numbers, link and individuals is not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised or regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Linklaters LLP (SRA ID number 460682) whose address is 20 Ropemaker Street, London, EC2Y 9AR. Their telephone number is 02074562000 and the email domain of the genuine firm is ‘@linklaters.com’.
The genuine firm Linklaters LLP has confirmed that it does not have any connection to any of the correspondence, domains, telephone numbers, link and individuals referred to above.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
